The Mission

Our purpose – our mission – our goal – is to spread love. All else is illusion. Be a part of the effort, not the ambivalence and resistance.

Self Love

Self-love is a presence, a state of being that signifies acceptance and respect for ones inherent worth and  dignity. It is  to be distinguished from vanity – self adulation or preoccupation with appearances and social status. It is not possible to love others without a positive, affirming sense of self.

No Self, No Problem

The price of love is giving up ego, or, as the Buddha is reputed to have observed: no self, no problem. The concept is so elementary, yet its application most challenging. Having healthy self esteem is actually enabling, and allows space in ones psyche for genuine care and deep affection. Maturing to the point of having the capacity to acknowledge self-love, while respecting others autonomy, is prerequisite to the ability – and desire – to reach out without expectation or hidden agenda.

Staying Cool

It is essential to deal calmly and decisively when confronted with a disquieting, unanticipated challenge. The physiologic and emotional consequence of being jarred by the unexpected can be severe, particularly if forced to deal with overly aggressive and hostile personalities.  Learning to de-stress and take things in stride, no matter the harshness or provocation, serves to stabilize and detoxify the situation.

Beyond Self

Consider what motivates a Gandhi, or a Mother Teresa, or a Dalai Lama – it is the ability to see, and reach, beyond self – to recognize the oneness of humanity, and the futility of continuously striving to satisfy the insatiable appetite for personal consumption – invariably at the expense of the less able. The survival of life as we know it rests on creating a new and more compassionate paradigm – one that acknowledges and supports the interdependence of all things – that rejects the cruel and inhumane notion that might makes right, that only the fittest deserve to survive. Say it Now

Delaying expressions of affection and  love  are needless gambles with potentially devastating consequences. Don’t let ego or pride prevent you from declaring your true feelings to those dear to you, be it a positive declaration, or an apology and sincere request for forgiveness. Time is a gift that can be revoked without notice.

Getting It

The end of the road is approaching when it all starts to make sense – the intrigue, the mystery, all the posturing – it falls into place, and one realizes that life is a magnificent adventure, with each experience exactly as it is meant to be, occurring at just the right time, and under perfect circumstances. All the stress, angst, fear and discomfort, in retrospect, was for naught. The ride is much smoother without repeated, futile attempts to steer or to slam on the brakes. Destiny has always been in control, with our contribution limited to input, and not outcome.  The “aha” moment – the “getting it” – the broad, comfortable, relaxed smile – signals, at last, the end of the vain struggle to derail the natural course of life.

Mothers

Acknowledging womanhood for the primary and indispensable role it plays in the survival of the human race is essential. Despite patriarchal dominance and influence in society, evidenced by continued uneven and discriminatory  treatment of the fairer sex in every arena, truth and reality is that the female deserves, and has earned, more than lip service for equality, if not primacy. Quite simply, not a single, strapping, politically powerful, economically affluent member of the male species would even exist without a mother. To the extent that religious edict and historical custom and practice combine to continue to reinforce the fiction that man is somehow superior to woman, and therefore more entitled, it is high time to come into the Twenty First Century and smell the roses.

Happy Mothers Day, Ladies!

Choices

The decision – and it is a decision -  to stop consuming unhealthy foods and products is a matter of self love. A sugar rush is invariably followed by a severe mood swing;  mind altering substances invariably rob one of self control. In either case, the pain is self inflicted. Making good and healthy choices is part of opting for intentionally positive and consciously aware living. Love, MA – 5/11/’12

Enlightenment

Love everyone – with appropriate degrees of intensity and passion. That paradigm shift is necessary to right the ship of relationship between human beings. If we can eliminate the mindset of “them” and “us,” and the “good guys” and the “bad guys,” we will be well on our way to a space of peace and sanity. When we regard extending a hand of friendship -rather than lobbing bombs – as evidence of courage and resolve, and when we chill out and accept others for who they are, rather than engaging in endless, presumptuous crusades to convert them to “our” way, we will have earned the right to be addressed as intelligent, enlightened people.
